Help for the AC on an '88 GMC Suburban with V8 and rear air?

My husband has worked on just the AC for about 20 hours now and it is STILL not working. We really NEED AC as we live in TX, I am pregnant and due in August.

He has replaced the dryer, the condenser cleaned the orifice valve (?), blown out the whole system and it still won't get cold. The fan works just fine. Any body else have any ideas???? He can't vacuum out the system before he fills it, could this really cause it to not get even a little cool???

Hi. I just posted a similar request for information and hope to get some answers as I live in Texas too. San Antonio to be exact.

I used to live where there were field mice, and found on my return from overseas, that the little critters had taken up residence in the vent tubes inside the truck. Mind you, the Suburban was on blocks and all windows and doors were closed and locked.

I had no cold a/c as well and ended up pulling tons of nesting material from the vent tubes. It cooled just fine then until my compressor died.
