Help on buying GMC Sierra 1500 second generation (2007–2014)

Hi Guys,
I would like to buy a GMC Sierra 1500 second generation (2007–2014), crew cab, 4x4. I’m from Germany and it’s my child dream to own a big truck like that. Since I live in Whistler, Canada and I have the money it's time to get one! I'm an absolutely newbie the North American trucks. I was wondering if you guys give me some advice about this model. Are there years they had problems… 4.8L or better 5.3L, etc. Which are the typical issues with this model?

IMO 2013-14 models are great for Sierra 1500 for power and towing/cargo capacity.

Buy a 2012. That was one of the better years .

I own a 2012 crew cab with the 4.8L and 4 speed. One issue to date, the torque converter went out at 6,000 miles. Been trouble free since (90,000 miles).
