2007 long bed, crew cab, Classic 6.6L /w duals 112,000 miles. It sometimes has a high pitched whine. The whine varies increases in intensity with throttle pressure and goes entirely away when coasting. Only occurs while driving. Can't tell where it is coming from. Will certainly appreciate any ideas regarding this.

My guess is the turbo. They do whine when you are accelerating. Sit in a Ford diesel and you will hear it worse.

interesting

It never has done this before. The whine increases in volume the harder the accelerator is depressed. If it is the turbo, what can be done to eliminate it?

Is it a really high pitch almost whistle? If it is the turbo nothing can be done that I know of. That's just the sound of power lol

It is more of a whine than whistle and it only happens after the engine gets warm. I love the truck and bought it new and have put all 111,ooo miles on it and intend to keep it as long as possible. We us it to tow an 18000 lb 5th wheel. Currently we are parked and not traveling. The noise started after about 106000. At that time it would only occur after driving for over an hour. Now it will occur after driving more than 30 minutes. Could it be a leaky hose goingto the turbo?

Webetraveling,
I would recommend that you have your dealer look into this for you. They may be in the best position to get this issue diagnosed for you. Please keep me posted and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime.

haha i just remembered i had a whining noise on my '98
took it to the dealer they replaced the surpentine belt
TaDa no more noise
PETE

Thanks, i intend to take it to the dealer but was hopeing for some idea of the cause and the cost to fix it. Also, if it will leave me stranded before it can get to the dealer. Shortly we must drive across some desolate areas and there is no dealer close to where we are currently located.

serpentine belt is easy to change and if you have the origanal belt from '07 it is time to change it anyway
