The driver's door have lots of movement closed?? Try to shimmy the upper catch and that issue is resolved, but.. The upper catch and clasp area may still rattle. I'm pretty sure it's a design flaw of the Sonoma's and S-10. also ever-so-slightly adjusted the strike plates where the door latches onto (on the main frame of the cab. That seemed to tighten things up noticeably.

The bottom door stopper isn't out far enough and doesn't keep enough tension on the door. That's why doors squeaks and rattles. The dealer, or most dealers, wont do anything to fix it and GM refuses to acknowledge the problem.

You should really take it in to the dealership's body-shop for advice, but it really isn't anything that a loud stereo can't take care of. :D

On my '97 the top bar broke on mine and when I replaced it, there was a slight amount of elongation to the holes for adjustment up under the trim plate. Also, I am looking to replace the bushings in the hinge on my third door, but don't want to spring for the dealer fee. Parts stores don't make a repair kit for the third door that i know of. Front hinge repair kits are like $6 at most auto parts stores, you might want to try that as it won't hurt anyway. The bushings wear out where the pin goes thru. Otherwise, there is the factory fit method. i worked in pre-delivery and fit doors, hoods, etc. You can bend (gently) the striker into complience with a tool. We used a wooden mallet handle. Good luck!
