Start from the top, disconnect the fuel fill tube from the body. undo the gas tank strap and place a jack under it to hold it up against the Suburban and lower the jack slowly. If the gas tank does not drop, it's just stuck up there from corrosion, so keep the jack under it and try to tap the gas tank loose to have it dropped a little just enough for you to undo the gas filler tube from the gas tank and the wire harness and fuel lines from the sending unit.

Once all as been disconnected, proceed to lower the tank till it's completely removed from the Suburban. To replace the sending unit, you should have gotten instruction on how to with your new sending unit, if not post me back and i'll give more step by step instructions on how to do that.

Note: you did buy a replacement sending unit wire harness from the frame to the new sending unit?? If not, buy one and replace it. Common for the wire harness to have broken wires inside the insulation after it has been moved around.

Good luck and be safe. ;)
