How do I put My 1996 GMC Jimmy in 4x4 drive and explain what they mean?

i have 3 buttons in that area they are as follows 2x2 4x4another 4x4. Also should the truck be in park or neutral and when do I know when to use what.

2x2 means that only your rear wheels are driving the truck, the next selection 4x4 is for four wheel drive high range, you can shift into this in gear and moving, the next selection is four wheel drive low range and you must be stopped and in neutral to shift into this.
