I would like to install new rotors and new brakes on my 2003 GMC Envoy XL. Is it something I can tackle or should I leave it to a professional.I have done some repairs in the past but not brakes and not on the envoy . Thanks.

Pretty easy as the other guys said. If it is 4wd, you will have a little more work to do, though.

Not hard at all. 2 bolts that hold the caliper on, and two bolts that hole the caliper bracket on and the rotor should come off frailly easy. There may be little told washer that look like they are cut and threaded on to the lug nuts, just get a pair of pliers and rip them off. They do not need to go back on . But most importantly, GM trucks usually don't need to have brakes replaced until about 100k miles. Make sure that you need brakes before you replace them.

sorry momojo, brakes on gm trucks never last 100k,. 40 to 50k is about as good as it gets. Also, the rear rotors can be a little tough to get off becase the parking brake shoes hang up on the rust on the inside. Drive the vehicle in a parking lot or a backstreet with the e-brake on just enough to slow the vehicle. This will break up most of the rust on the inside.

do it yourself. buy a chilton manual or look here...
