Returning to the GM fold after a 16 year hiatus I'm in the process of purchasing a '96 MGC Suburban. This came about on account of an accident that K.O.d 'Easy Bake' my black panel van (Ford). At about the same time my Jeep CJ got a stuck intake valve and my bike 'Go Fast' Kawasaki Z1R turbo is still in mothballs. So I was without a even a rig to commute in (12 miles).
Lucky for me a shop Owner I once did much business with (when I had money) lent me a work bay to pull the head on my CJ, borrow HIS TOOLS ?!? AND let me drive this '96 Suburban his crew had put a motor in a while back and was getting around to be sold.
After an abortive foray on some leads on another van from Craigslist, my wife seemed to grow fond of this Suburban so I'm making a play for it. It may not be a trailer queen pristine perfect, but it does what I need it to do, so it looks like in the next couple of weeks, whenever State Farm pays my claim on 'Easy Bake' I'll be getting this GMC.
I recognise a few elements from my old '77 lowriding short wide Chevy PU and my old '76 Chevy Blazer I had back in the '80's and '90's. Kind of comforting that.
