I have a 1997 GMC sierra 1500 how much would it be worth if i sell it for scraps?

If you can afford it, I would be tempted to find a used tranny to put in it. It will be worth FAR more money, and you can be sure that anyone who buys it the way it is now, will do exactly that.
Those trucks are too good to go to scrap just yet, unless you have 400,000 miles on it.
A good salvage yard will have a nationwide database to try and find a tranny for your truck, if you choose that route.
As it is now, I would think you could get $1500 for it, but not at a salvage yard.

Most Salvage Yard will only give you $250.00 - $300.00, but you can pick up a 4L60E transmission up for that truck for about $400.00 at the yard and installation about $300.00. Total of $700.00 which is much less then replacing the Sierra. The other thing also is if you find another truck with a bad motor, but a good transmission (4L60E) say around $300.00 cash offered to the person and good chance that it will be sold to you and then send it to the Salvage yard and get $250.00 for it.
As for the transmission??? what is it doing or not doing?? Could be a simple fix.
