...clue what would cause this?
its in park it turns off it starts back up it drains the batt. so i took a fuse out

There is probably something wrong with your shift inter-loc. Under, where you put the key in, there is a little cover, in a circle shape, it might be above it but I don't think so. You can take that cover off and stick something in there and press, you should be able to turn the key to the spot where it will release. If that doesn't work, then take it out of gear and slam it really hard back into gear...NOT while vehicle is running, only with key in 'on" position

I had the same problems, turn the ignition on (without starting car). Then shift the truck into reverse and back into park.

If you look under the steering wheel on the bottom cover right behind the wheel you will see a round cap about 3/4" round. pop it off and there is a hole that you can push a pen or nail up in to the hole and hit a release switch.

I also had the same problem with my 98 Jimmy and i went to my local shop and he installed a little button that i have to push every time i take my key out. apparently it is a common problem with Jimmys. it wasn't expensive at all but i don't really remember how much.
