disconnect drive shaft? What do I do to tow 98 4wd gmc jimmy?

You might be able to just put the transfer case in neutral. If you pull the drive shaft the tailpiece will have to be taken out of the transfer case and the oil most likely will leak out.
If you still feel that you want to drop it, the bolts have to be undone on the rear yoke. From there on what else has to come out will be self evident.

It depends on how far you are going to tow it , it it just needs to be towed a short distance, less than 20 miles, and you keep the speed below 30 as much as possible, you can tow with transmission in nuetral. some transfer cases nave a nuetral selectoin and this will work fine, you can tow with transfer case in nuetral as far as you want

Caution: Shifting the transfer case to Neutral can cause the vehicle to roll even if the transmission is in P (Park). You or someone else could be seriously injured. Be sure to set the parking brake before placing the transfer case in Neutral.

NEUTRAL: Shift the vehicle's transfer case to NEUTRAL only when towing your vehicle, this will keep your transmission from being damaged when you tow the jimmy. :D

Indicator lights in the switches show which setting your transfer case is in. The indicator lights will come on briefly when you turn on the ignition and one will stay on. If the lights do not come on, you should take your vehicle to your dealer for service. An indicator light will flash while the transfer case is being shifted. It will remain illuminated when the shift is complete. ;)
