Is buying a 2000 GMC Sierra with 200,000 miles on it a good idea?

I found a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab for around $7,000. I got approved for a loan and will have monthly payments of around $150. The truck is in really good condition and drives great, only problem is it has 200,000 miles on it. Not too sure if this is a good idea or not.

yes a great idea if you own an oilfield

$7,000 is a bit on the high side for the 2000 Sierra, shop around and see what else you can find for a better price. The 1996 Sierra to 2002 had issues with there SCFI system and at times would require the SCFI to be upgraded to the MPFI system that are out now on the Vortecs.

The price for that year should be around $5,000, it is a 10 year almost 11 year old truck with 200,000 miles and the other issues the V8's had was a soft distributor gear and tend to wear out about the mileage your in. If you do buy the Sierra, have the Distributor gear replaced with a harder gear and have the SCFI cleaned before buying it with that price of $7,000.

Good luck and hope this helps. :D
