I was just wondering If i were to purchase a Colorado or Canyon if there were engine swap kits like the s-10s had. I would be slapping a 4.3L in if it were possible. I believe it would be more reliable than the motors they have in them. They should have had a 4.3L option in them to start with.
well the 4.3l i have now isnt stock its been rebuilt and i estimate it to be at least 30-50 hp more than it was stock. edelbrock intake manifold, bored .40 over 9.5:1 compression ratio. comp cam hyd roller cam, roller rockers /lifters, transdapt tbi spacer, gibson headers, alluminum pulleys, and i put a flowmaster super 44 with it. Its a little beast. This is in a 93 1500 right now but was just thinking if it were possible and they made kits for it i would consider throwing it in a canyon/colorado. Il probly just throw it in another 93 1500 because it would be easier. Unfortunately for me i have to use a 93 because of the 4l60e tranny is different in 93. And since its been rebuilt and the motor and the chip i had made its just easier for me to use a 93. I like the look of the colorado/canyons though and i think its the best looking truck GM makes. The new fullsize truck are ugly boxes that cannot cut air good going down the road. Arrow dynamics are a factor in mpg.

There is a guy in Ontario that put a 350(5.7L) GM engine in one. It wasn't a kit, he fabricated all the pieces himself. It was so powerful, he burned the tires at every corner.

Don't do it. The 5, yes 5, cylinder engine is a good motor. It makes more power and torque than a 4.3. And if your going to do a swap then put in an LS2 or any LS engine. I've seen this done several times and they are reliable and have a ton of power.
