Hi all, I just picked up my first pickup truck, a 2004 GMC Sierra V6 5spd. with 68k miles on it for for $3000. In which I think I got a pretty good deal on it, because the guy was asking for $5500.
But there were a couple things I did notice was wrong with the truck. My speedometer works intermediately, there is rust almost everwhere under the truck, and on the brake and accelerator pedal. The horn doesn't work, and the roof is sagging. It is the work truck single cab model, so it has the hard rubber floor. But powerterain wise, it is a sound truck, no engine noise, and transmission is smooth, and the clutch is new. Oh and it is missing the tailgate, but has those cool baja nets, also being my first truck, I kind of like it without it, because it makes it easier to back up.
But other than that I was just looking to join a forum, like I did with my other cars.

Welcome to the GM forum and feel free to post any questions or advice. Looks like you got a great summer project and keep us posted, as for your speedometer jumping. Inspect the VVS sensor at the tail cone of the transmission for bad and corroded wire leads. If that is good, then it's going to be a good chance that it's he stepper motor in the cluster gauge.

rust is easily fixed with some sand paper and flat black paint. horn, you can buy a nice set of air horn squeelers from the local parts store and a horn etc for under 50, the headliner is easy to do yourself, just search the net for some how toos....and congrats on the purchase, here i am 20 years later an I still remember my first truck (a 79 dodge d50 mini truck, what hadnt rusted away) with a big smile, im sure you will to.

if you plan on doing some custom things to it, my best advice is do your research and ask tons of questions, then spend your dollars wisely...
