Leaky fuel pressure regulator?

The pressure sensor and spider assembly were fairly clean, except for a thin oil residue covering it, but I have no way of knowing if it looks the way it should. I've never taken one apart before! But the bottom of the plenum seems to be really clean. I have attached a couple of photos of what it looked like when I took it apart. To me it seems to be way too clean. What is your opinion?

Is there any way that I can check the pressure valve and the spider assembly with the units out of the vehicle? Sorry to be a pest but does anyone out there know a supplier that is reasonable in their pricing and not charge a fortune for the spider assembly,2003 gmc jimmy 4.3 .I live in canada so some of the companies will not ship here.

Inspect the injector lines for cracks, but most likely the leak is from the fuel pressure regulator as mentioned. Inspect that and look for signs of where the leak has been coming from the regulator.

Good luck and yes, in most case the intake manifold should have more carbon then what you have shown us. it should have as much carbon as what you have described on your upper intake manifold.

Hi, Thanks for your assessment.I checked the lines did not see any cracked lines or leaks,but it is difficult to spot a small hole.I replaced the fuel pressure regulator . If the injectors were leaking would the gas not go down the hole in the intake manifold and not over the bottom of the intake manifold. Is there any way to check the lines when I get the spider ass. wired back up with fuel line temp. attached. Also I cannot get the injectors back into the manifold ,,it says to push firmly,but they just will not snap into place, any idea's? Do you have to put a little motor oil or tap lightly with sledge hammer.Talgoo

That was very informative except there was no mention on how to get the injectors into intake manifold.I had already cleaned out the holes but they will not snap into place.Also if I pressured up the fuel system before the injector are installed ,with the cover off I should be able to see if the hoses leak,or will that wreck something,Thanks Talgoo

Injectors just slid in and should be snug in to there ports, and yes you can pressurize the system to check for leaks before you finish off putting everything together.
