has anyone cut out the v4 feature on their 5.3 engine? was wondering if it is a good or bad idea... just checking..thanks..Lee

I haven't done it yet, but I too am thinking about it... My truck just turned 100K miles, an I've never had a problem with the AFM system, but
a lot of people do I understand... Seems that the lifters collapse after awhile & everything goes to hell from there... I've often wondered if a
lot of these problems aren't brought about by stretching the miles out between oil changes !!! The only thing I've found wanting in the
system is the horrible exhaust note you get when cruising on the hi-way at a light engine load an it goes into the V-4 mode, then the exhaust
note sounds like s--t!!! They have a number of little black boxes that plug into the OBD port that disable the AFM-DOD systems, but they vary
widely in price, anywhere from the $90-100 range to about $225 ??? an I haven't been able to see the reason for the wide variance in price
for a little boxes that all supposedly do the same thing !!! Hopefully some knowledgeable fella will come along here & enlighten us...
