Was wondering if there are any benefits to using Marvel Mystery Oil in my old Suburban or any of my newer vehicles. I know what they claim but is it all true. Is it best to add to your oil at oil changes and keep in all the time?

I add mine about 1000 km before oil changes. You can add it to your engine oil any time but you have to keep an eye on your oil. The Marvel Mystery Oil is thin, thinner then transmission oil and will burn off sooner so your oil level will go down.

I been using it on my GMC Jimmy since new and it has over 365,00 miles on her without any lifter ticking and just started to get a slight piston slap this winter but goes away just as soon as it started.

Take note that is you have any bad oil seals, the Marvel Mystery will clean out any dirt and carbon that is keeping the oil from leaking. But if your oil seals are good, then the Mystery Oil will keep the oil seals at 100% and will keep oil form seeping oil.

Good luck and keep us posted. :D

I am a firm believer in just change your oil when it is due and screw all those additives but I do put it in my gas to help with valve and cylinder lubrication. I keep vehicles for a long time and never had any engine issues. ( knock on wood )

If you have to use additives then you are using the wrong oil.

I just read this
Phil Garner of Hopewell Junction,
New York still drives the Plymouth
Barracuda he purchased new in 1968.
More remarkable, the car runs on the
original engine. In August 2010 the
odometer read 438,000 miles.
Garner said the reason the engine has
lasted nearly a half-million miles without
requiring any major work other than a
valve job is because he has been using
AMSOIL synthetic oil since the mid-
1970s.

MMO = not all it's made out to be.

I drive a tractor trailer for a living and I used to dump all those additives in my oil to help my engine live longer. Guess what? They don't help anything and the use of some of them will void some warranties.
MMO, if you check, has no benefits except as a tax write off and boosting the profits of the manufacturer. There is no conclusive proof that MMO benefits your engine in any way.
As someone posted earlier all you need to do is use quality oil and a quality filter to benefit your engine the most.
I use Shell Rotella in everything I own from my 70+ year old Ford 8N tractor to my 1996 Suburban that I just bought. I've had three Jeep Cherokees go over 300,000 just by changing oil every 5,000 miles. Yes, 5,000 miles between oil changes. Quality products let you go for longer between oil changes. I can't see the reason for 3,000 mile oil changes except to make OPEC happy.
Good luck.
