I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 and the power mirrors stopped working on both sides. The mirror control is in the same door mounted console as the power windows and door lock mechanism (it's all one unit). So how would I go about diagnosing and fixing this? A mechanic told me it's probably not the console itself (since the power windows and door locks work fine) but to check the wiring harness in the door, which is wrapped in a flexible rubber conduit. And if it is the wire harness, then I need to remove the panel from the door to access it? Is that the right way to go about doing this?
