it is a 2000 jimmy with 4.3 v6 in it.
it only does this 2 out of five times i start it..i already replaced the battery ...
i was thinking since the wire had lots of battery acid on it maybe the cable went bad.
i am just throughing ideas out there though

clean the connections good.
#2 if the cable are corrosive and swollen then replace the cable . battery connections are the biggest problem in cars of this age .
#3 you may have problems with your starter later .

You could trim the cable back a few and re strip the plastic covering and re run it to the terminal post and give that a shot make sure your terminals are clean and free of debris also
