Hi there, my 1997 jimmy won't start. it turns over but just won't start. It had stalled several times leading up to this. Once on the highway at highway speed, it stuttered and almost died the guages did a needle dance then got going again. It was also difficut to start eading up to this point. I am not too mechanically inclined, but i can prob change the pump and filter with some direction/help. Is the fuel pump inside the tank? how do i check fuel pressure? any help greaty appreciated. Cheers

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, it's located on the inside frame rail under the drivers door. The fuel filter should be replaced every 20,000 KM or once a year to ensure your fuel system is running 100%.

A dirty fuel filter will cause your fuel pump to run hotter, causing it to have a shorter life. Start with the filer replacement, then check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve with a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. You should have 62-65 PSI when fuel lines are pressurized, engine not running and should drop by 5 PSI when engine is running.

Good luck and keep us posted.:D
