Hello All,

I have done a lot of searching and the more I search, the more confused I get. We recently purchased a 2012 Acadia, and can’t seem to get the navigation system to read the disk. When I insert it behind the screen I get a “DVD Map Read Error” Message. The disk was found in the glove box, so I am assuming that the previous owners had the same issue. The disk appears to be undamaged, and doesn’t show any signs of being scratched. I tried to blow out the unit with compressed air, and it worked for about 2 minutes.

Research on the net has me even more confused as to a direction. Some say replace the disk, some say take the unit out and clean the map DVD player, some say it’s all junk. The more research I do, the more confused I get.

Everything else on the unit works great and not having the Navigation doesn’t hurt our feelings since we have become accustom to having smart phones and Google Maps. It would be nice however to have it operational. I guess it’s my OCD coming out!

If ant one here can put me on the path to recovery, I would really appreciate it, thanks so much

Well, it's either the disc or the player! Can you take it to the dealer and ask them to try a known-good disc? If it still doesn't work then it's the player. Expensive to replace at the dealer but you can try United Radio (NY) or Willmans Electronics (TX).

Thanks SKTN77A for the source's for replacement, I will check them out.

They are sources for repair, not replacement. Cost is usually around $100-$200. But you might find a replacement on e-bay.
