I am new to this. I let a friend drive my 98 sonoma 2wd and the idiot went from fifth to first going of the highway. IDIOT!!! So now when i put the car in gear and release the clutch pedel it does nothing. Like my clutch isnt engaging. I need to get this truck going so i can get back driving again. PLEASE HELP let me know what you think

Q -
After the downshift from hell , was the vehicle still drivable
for a while then it quit engaging or did you have to tow it home ?

IMO - ( and without being there in person )
It aint good at best - tranny has broken shaft ,
tore up clutchplate or more , or
you may also have snapped an axle in the rear end ,
try to isolate main problem -

jack up rear end , put in gear and see if driveshaft turns ,
if it does then its rear end , but that's not to say you will just need
a new axle , the weakest point failed , but that doesn't mean other
parts weren't damaged before it failed : driveshaft warped ,teeth
broke from gears etc.

If driveshaft doesn't turn , then you might want to contact a trans. shop
and go from there .

well i would say you need to pull the tranny to see if it's the clutch or the tranny. How does the clutch pedal feel?
