Hey folks,

I just bought a 2007 Sierra 1500 Classic SLE 4x4 with the 5.3. I noticed while driving it around and turning I get some light clunks I can feel in the wheel and pedals. I'm not too savvy with trucks yet, so I'm not sure where to look. It doesn't happen while driving straight, even over bumpy roads. Possibly wheel bearings? Probably not tie rods, right? My previous Dodge went through tie rods like nobody's business.

Thanks,
Josh

sounds like steering shaft as always. They all do it sooner or later. Easy fix. do a search on steering shaft and see what other have done.

fyi - Its just a noise and not an indication of something failing. An annoying noise from the damped steering shaft and yes its a common complaint from the 99-07 Classic style trucks.

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can find out. Nothing felt loose on it. I felt that a few minor issues shouldn't prevent me from buying a truck that I thought was a good deal - $4k+ off book value...

Looks like I can just take it out and grease it up well or get the 'improved' shaft and replace it with that. I'm glad nothing's actually wrong with it. My buddy has an '03 Silvy with a 6" FabTech lift and his doesn't do it. He'll probably grief me a bit about mine when we go shining this or next weekend...
