Hi from northern Alberta, Canada! I am a recently new owner of an older 2003 Sierra with several electrical quirks to figure out! Looking to meet people with common interests and to learn from as I venture into this new area for me.
So far, I acknowledge I will need a new instrument cluster, radio, connect a trailer brake controller and change shocks. There is a puff from the right manifoldI hope can wait until next year (spring/summer)
Thanks in advance and look forward to exchanging info with members here soon!

Try AutoXpresstech.com first before replacing your instrument cluster. They will rebuild yours and return it within a day of them receiving it. I had that done to my 2003 Sierra Denali, total cost was about $95 or so if I remember right. My tach had quit working and my temp gauge wasn't working right most of the time. They rebuild the whole thing and there is no need to get the mileage programmed since it's your original cluster. Might be worth a try.

I currently have a 2003 2500HD and can tell you that the electrical in these vehicles is very quirky. My seat heaters turn on at will and I've replaced numerous light bulbs etc.. Sometimes lights will flash on the cluster for no reason at all. Ive even had the lights flash one time and the truck conked out. That only happened once. I've replace the cluster totally. Changed all the gauge motors and replaced all the bulbs with LED lights. The truck was brand new when I bought it back in 03 and the following is a list of what I have replaced since with 116,000 on the truck now:

Shocks replaced once
Belts Twice
Brake Rotors and Pads replaced twice (rears will ware out quicker) common for this truck
Wheel Hubs replaced twice
Brake lines replaced with pre-bent stainless steel due to originals rotting out.
Rear axle seal replaced (leaking)
After winter I will be replacing the manifold bolts. I have 3 that the heads have popped off of. (Common for the 6.0L) GM knows this is a problem and should be a recall but ignores that it exists. People post all over youtube about the problem.
I have done other mods but I'm listing the OEM parts that are issues through time. Hope this helps you to check some of these parts
