i have a 96 jimmy with the 4.3. my transmission wont shift into park. the shifter feels right, up until park. the shifter itself will go into the park position, but it feels limp. the indicator light stays lit on the reverse r when the shifter is in park. how can i fix this. i have no park, the car just rolls when the shifter is in park position

I don't know. Really don't but how about changing fluid/ filter and add some cleaner too? Probably won't do it, huh? But if you haven't changed tranny fluid in a while that's what I'd do first. Just be careful cause after about 150k or so if vehicle never changed the fluid it will actually be hurtful to it... That's all I come up with now.

Sound like your shifter linkage needs to be adjusted, if your not sure how to adjust the linkage and your transmission has not been serviced.
Bring it in to a transmission shop and have them service the transmission. Average price is about $100.00 for new fluid and filter, just make sure you don't have a transmission flush. Just drop the oil pan and replace the filter.
They can adjust the linkage the same time so it should cost you anymore then the service price.
