I have a 2000 sierra 1500 and when it in 4 wheel drive it's very noisy does anyone have an idea of what would cause this. It has a new transfer case and the noise sounds like it's in the front end.

Drain and inspect your front differential oil, your front differential may be warn or you could be low on fluid from a seal that went bad and the fluid leaked out leaving you low on fluid.

When replacing the fluid you can add some Lucas oil additives or simply replace is with synthetic after you have determined that your seals are not leaking. Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

The seal is leaking for sure. I had it filled on my last oil change. I plan on getting the seal replaced before winter sets in. I will try synthetic in it after that to see if it will lessen the noise. Thanks for the reply.

Leaky seals also means that your bearings need to be replaced, a worn bearing will have play and cause your seals to wear out and you start leaking again shortly after .
