My 2011 never seems to give the correct temperature readout for outside on the display. I asked about it at my 1k checkup and they said to hold the AC button and the recirculate button for an instant reading. I have been doing that but seems ridiculous to have to press special buttons when this should update itself automatically. Anyone else have this problem?

How do you know its incorrect? Maybe the stat you are comparing it to is not right?

None of my ever agree with what you see on most banks etc.

Also, the sensor is behind the bowtie in front of the radiator attached to the hood latch support. If you got anything in the way or done some moving of wiring in that area you may have blocked air flow to the temp sensor.

I'm sure its wrong cause when I start it up in the morning it will say like 54 degrees then mid morning its still showing that when I know its up in the 70s. And if I press those 2 buttons it does an instant update to the correct temperature, which leads me to believe the sensor is working and accurate. I'm not necessarily comparing it to banks, but I use weather websites to check also.

The truck is brand new, haven't done anything to the front of it yet either.

Yes We Are

We have a 2010 GMC Terrain and have also had the same problem. Wasn't entirely sure if we were until reading your post and we haven't asked the shop about it yet, but we will now. Agreed that their solution is ridiculous. Obviously it needs fixing. If something could be blocking it, the shop should have been able to check and clear that for you.
