I found the left rear door on my 2005 Savana 2500 would not release when activating the latch to open the left rear door. Seems the little plastic retainer that holds the control rod securly to the upper latch assembly had broken causing the upper control rod to slip out of position. Talking to my Dealer at a GMC service center I found out you have to buy the upper control rod assembly ($43.00 +/-) to acquire the plastic retainer to make repairs to the latch assembly. The plastic retainer engineered for this specialized detail can not be purchased separately. But we knew that is usualy the case if you own a GMC product. Slipping a piece of tie wire through the upper latch hole and rapping the wire around the control rod was a quick and easly fix.

Most of the auto supply stores like Autozone or O'Reilly will carry a pack of assorted clips in a blister pack from Dorfman. From what I've seen there's 3 different packs of door clips, one will have a couple that work.
