Sorry for my first post to be asking for help, but I'm banging my head against a wall here. I just bought a project 1997 Sonoma ZR2 that's been sitting for a few months since the prior owner couldn't figure it out. It runs great overall except for as stated above. Starts fine cold or hot and idles smooth. Gradually give it the go pedal and it will rev all the way out. However, when the accelerator is pushed 1/2-3/4 to the rug, it cuts out, completely silent. Doesn't matter if it's in park or drive. If you let up soon enough, it will recover. If it does actually die, it will not restart no matter how long I wait. The only way to get it to restart is to disco the battery for 5 minutes or so and reconnect. Then it fires right back up. I've pulled codes and am only getting P0144 for 02 sensor (no cat.) Fuel pressure is 60 koeo and 58-62 koer. It actually spikes to ~65 when it cuts out. I pulled #4 plug boot and put in a spare plug to monitor spark and it also stays nice and hot during engine cutout.
So far I've put a new battery in (old one was frozen,) last owner changed fuel pump, pulled map and cleaned it up, tried running with map unplugged to see if ecu would run in default and I've stared at the top of the motor for quite some time but that didn't work either
I figure it's a sensor as resetting the ecu temporarily corrects the problem but without any codes being thrown, I don't know which to try first. At a loss and any help is truely appreciated. Sorry for being so lengthy, but I wanted to cover it all. Thanks in advance.
