My 95 Jimmy has been giving me problems and I need to know what's wrong with her. Most of the time when I try and start it, it takes me a few tries, and I have to hold the key longer otherwise it won't start, and that's bad for the ignition, and when I'm driving everything randomly shuts off besides the engine and all my warning lights come on. When this happens my radio turns off and I lose my presets. It has a brand new battery. My airbag and ABS Brake warning light come on for a few seconds when I'm driving through town. If anyone knows what's wrong please help me.

Starting with the hard starts, keep is simple and replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve. You should have 62-65 PSI when the ignition keys are turn on and engine not running, anything less then 62 PSI will give you starting issues. Try this, turn your ignition on for 5 seconds and then off for 10 seconds and on again for 5 seconds and then try to start the engine, if it starts. You have a fuel leak from ether the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pressure check valve at the fuel sending unit, to check for the fuel leak. Energize the fuel line and make sure you have 62 PSI and turn the ignition off and see how fast your fuel pressure drops, it should stay up at 62 PSI for 15 min and slowly drop. If it drops fast, then you have a fuel pressure issue and if money is tight. Just pressurize the fuel line twice before trying to start the engine.

Second issue to why your electrical system is shutting down and causing lights to flash and engine to shut down. This is the classic sighs of a ignition switch going bad and will need to be replaced, the ignition switch has more then one function other then to start the engine. The ignition switch also provides the electrical connection's to the accessory and to the power module (ECM) to the Jimmy. Once the ignition switch starts to go bad due to wear on the contacts, vibration can cause aching and electrical connection may be lost for a moment like as if you turn the ignition off and on again leaving your engine off and all the light's going through it's systems check again.

Good luck and keep me posted. be glad to help you get your jimmy running 100% again
