I did a search of old threads and couldn't seem to find one that outlined this problem so please excuse me if this has been discussed before.
Recently, my 2005 Jimmy driver side window would go all the way down and when i went to "roll" it back up, it would stop halfway and I would have to give it a little pull and it would roll all the way up. Even more recently, it wouldn't roll up from even a quarter way. And now, when I hit the button either up or down, it makes this horrible grinding noise.
So my dilemma is:
Should I attempt to repair this myself or is this a symptom of a bigger problem in that the regulator as well as motor are probably fried? I asked the shop what they would charge and he said minimum $800. Hence why I am considering repairing it myself even though I am far from being, as they say, "handy."
My thought is that I should at least take the door panel off and take a peek, maybe it just needs some WD-40. Haha.
Anyhoo, any input would be much appreciated!
