Hi, has anyone had a problem with a Jimmy (2002) that has problems switch the 4x4. Either It will not go back into 2wd or will not go into 4 HI.
It was stuck in 4HI/Low
Replaced: -small threaded vacuum switch on top of transfer case, because it was siezed.
-Cable from vacuum actuator to front Differential, because it was siezed, then broke
After replacing those, 4x4 still would not switch back, It would attempt to switch back, but nothing would happen.
Some say to it could be the TCCM (replace with 2003 or newer, or new one) and others say its the Encoder motor down at the transfer case, that maybe its getting weak and has trouble switching the 4x4.
Also I had unplugged the electrical connector at the encoder motor to check it, and when i plugged it back in, i had tried my 4x4 switch again, and it switched back! but still problems with the 4x4, as now it won't go into 4 HI.
Does it sound about right to replace the encoder motor at this point now? Possible TCCM?
*I now have it in 2wd
