I have a 92 GMC Sierra plain jane. Today as I was driving home, I couldn't turn the volume up. I powered off the radio. As I was driving along, the radio came on! I pressed power off and it continued to play. When I got home, I turn the ignition off(Lock) and the radio continued to play. It didn't matter what position the key was in, the radio played. Pushing power off, or any of the buttons did nothing.
I pulled the radio out and unplugged it and the radio continued to play! The display and the radio controls I discovered is not the radio unit. Well, I couldn't leave the radio playing and run the battery down. Pulled the fuse marked RDO and that did nothing. I continued pulling fuses until the radio stopped playing. A 20AMP marked OTSY did the trick. Put the dash back together and plugged the fuse in. Everything worked as it should. Ignition in the Lock position, no radio. In Acc or on, radio played and the volume now works.
What the H*** is going on?
