Rear wiper ripped (had the vehicle 8 months
) it's a ways to the dealer, changed a 1000 wipers in my day, no problem right? Wrong.
First the owners manual says the blade is 11.8 inches, good luck finding that size, it doesn't exist. I found 12" so I figured lets measure; frigging thing is like 9 3/4"! Would have ordered it from GM Parts but they wanted as much to ship it as the blade cost.
Ok, lets remove the blade and take it to the auto parts store. Good freaking luck getting that thing out. I'm done, off to the dealer.
My regular service guy was there so he gave me a break. We bought the part at the counter and he got someone to put it in for us for free (he didn't want to touch it either). He said it's suppose to be a $30 part/labor. Most people hear that and go home to DIY. They're back in an hour holding the whole wiper assembly.
My advice, don't touch the thing. Drive to a dealer/auto shop, pay the $30 and walk away happy.
