I have a 78 Sierra, it don't matter if Im on empty or half but whe. Ever ibtry to put gas in it just spits right back at me, I've tried turning nozzle, angling it nothing seems to work without spilling more gas then I'm putting in. Right now I have a piece of hose that I put in my tank and put the nozzle in the other end and that works for now but I shouldnt have to go through all that trouble. Any suggestions?

Refueling problem

When ever you put liguid into a container there has to be a way to vent the air out of the tank and that does not seem to be working in your vehicle. If you look under the fender at you filler pipe you should see to tubes, the filler tube and a small one the vent tube. While they will appear metal they are connected to the tank by a rubber hose section. Something must have happended to the vent, its blocked or rotted way and no longer connected to the top of the tank. Might have to drop the tank and take a look. Depending on your location it could be rusted out.
