Remote start add for 08 Sierra SLT

So I just bought an 08 Sierra 1500 SLT Z71 All Terrain. The dealer only had one key for it, a standard 3 button fob. Reading some of the threads, I checked my glove box and it says my truck has the AP8 pkg. That means it's remote start ready, correct? Just need the 4 button fob and programming?

I believe that's the case. The dealer charges about $250.00 for it. That includes the FOBs (2) and the programming.

Yep 2 key fobs aprox ($20) A lockable Hood latch and a $200 code number to call GM with to activate

Thanks. I am having my salesman check on the price for me. Wasn't sure if there was an aftermarket option or not.

check with dealer for range of starting, had one installed 3 seasons ago and it still will not start truck from over 80' away. They tell me there's no way to increase the range. Approx. $300.00 investment when an aftermarket for less $ will start up to 1000' away . Something to think about!

I was going to look at aftermarket, $300 is what I was quoted too. I don't need a loty of range to start at home or from work, but 80' isn't much for the $. Thanks

if you're truck has the info button you can program the remote your self
press info entail it shows remote programming
then it will tale you when to hold lock and unlock buttons on new remote
