My mom has a 2001 Jimmy with 4.3L, 97k miles. The vehicle is driven once a week on grocery excursions, more lately (probably 4-5 times meeting my sis with grandkids. A few weeks ago, my dad gave it a tune up. Changed plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button because of some random misfires and since it had not had a tune up since bought new, he did the above. Oil changes have been done on time or early and it really isnt driven that much during the week since mom is retired and a bit of a homebody.
Even since the tune up, have had recurring P0302 code, with flashing check engine light earlier this week when mom drove it on an errand, but stopped when she pulled onto the road and accelerated. Not sure if this is sign of a coil going bad or what is going on, but would appreciate some insight. Luckily I have a Scangauge for my diesel and have been able to pull codes instead of hitting the shop every time. Vehicle otherwise runs good. Check engine light went off this morning on its own, but know it wont be long before it comes back on. Need to get this figured out since this is mom's main vehicle. Thanks for any info given.
