Hi All,

I just purchased a new Sierra 1500Slt all Terrain. I live in southern Ontario, Canada where the use of Salt on the roads is abundant during the winter. I want to do some kind of rust protection such as an under body coat and/or oil spray. The dealership is recommending their electromagnetic surface protector (ESP). Not sure what to think about this?? I've heard mixed reviews on this type of protection however, it comes with a 10 year warranty.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Look at the warranty closely and if it makes sense go for it.

I had mine sprayed by the dealer. Nice sticky goop in all body panels and on underside of truck. I live in Minnesota so same conditions as you. Didn't spray my 2004 and regretted it.

You can have the under body sprayed with an under body sealant. I had mine coated with Chassis Saver.

Hi Pano

I also live in Southern Ont. Had my 2005 Sierra sprayed with Rust Check it works but watch the rubber hoses and bushings, Rust Check will slowly harm them. Blew my windshield washer hose off my vehicle and 2 other vehicles that have been Rust Checked. The rubber hose looses its elasticity from Rust Check and Krown under coatings. Had a friend who used Krown on his GM vehicle and and all the door handle gaskets sagged looked like crap. Most of the ESP modules don't work from what I hear.

If possible have a look under the truck after it is done with a flashlight you will be surprised on how many spots are missed. Your undercoating job is only as good as your applicator.
