Hello, I have a 1991 GMC Sierra 1500. It has a few things wrong with it, but other then that, it works and runs great!

First.. Whenever I use the blinker and turn the steering wheel, the horn honks. Although this is very funny at times to see peoples reactions, it gets annoying.

Second.. The Odometer and trip odometer aren't working. Is this just a fuse? I can't find anything on it.

Third.. Sometimes the brake pedal will stick.. Not badly, just enough so the brakes aren't engaged, but the lights are..

I'm only a high school student, and I have auto shop class in school, so I can fix some things pretty easily. But there's a more scary thing that scares me.

Sometimes (i'm not sure how often, it might just be whenever it gets hot) it will die on me when I change the gears. It's an automatic, if i'm in drive, and I need to put it in reverse, sometimes (it has only done it to me twice over the last 2 months, and both times the engine was starting to get warm.) it will just die on me. It will start up just fine, and run just fine on me from there. One time I was out looking for deer and it did it to me, but I was putting the truck in park/drive a lot. I needed a truck for about a year, and I wanted an auto shop project. I'm stuck on these fixes. The bottom one doesn't bother me to much, as long as it doesn't start happening more frequently.

Thanks guys.

1) horn; you'll have to pull the steering wheel. You have a short circuit where the steering wheel meets the steering column.
2) odometer; if the problem is fuse related, other things in the instrument cluster would not be working. You probably have a failed gear or electrical component in speedometer/odometer system. That will require removing the instrument cluster. But first, carefully reach up behind dash and feel for loose wire connections. You may be able to get your head partially back under to look for any dangling connectors.
3) brake; chances are it's not the pedal sticking, but the brake light switch that's sticking. It's located on the upper most area of the brake pedal arm. Try lubricating the moving part of the switch with a spray can (wd-40, silicone, etc..)
4) engine dies; I can't help much. When you start the engine, the computer recognizes the cold engine, then it bumps up the engine rpm and initiates the intake air heater. Your problem could be a faulty air heater or in the speed controller at the throttle body. While you're poking around the engine compartment check for cracked or broken vacuum hoses. They can cause the engine to die.
