today my car stalled out on me when i was driving. it was around 85 degrees out and had a bunch of running around to do. i have to start my car by jumping the solenoid on my starter with a screwdriver, there's another thread for that, anyways i try to leave my car running if i can. so today i cashed my check got gas and went to the bank without turning my car off. i noticed the temp gauge was getting above the 1/4 mark after the bank but i was on my way to my sisters house which is about a 25-30 min drive with hardly any stops so i thought driving would cool it down. i had about 3 minutes left before i made it to her house when my car stalled and i coasted into a parking lot. the gauge never went above the 1/2 mark but the top radiator hose was very hot to the touch and i opened the oil fill cap and after a few seconds a little bit of steam started to creep out i don't now if that's normal or not. so i let it sit for a few minutes and tried to start the car. it did start for a second but then died out. so i got a ride to my sisters and was there for a couples hours to let my car cool down. went back to see if it would stay running and it did. but on my way home i got about 10-15 minutes into the drive and just after i went up a big hill where i had to accelerate more to get up it my car started to sputter then stalled out again. i don't know if i have a bad thermostat or if its something else.
i apologize for the long thread and if anyone thinks they might know what the problem may be comment please, thank you

If there was no check engine light that came on, then start with the simple and replace your fuel filter and check your ground wire to your fuel sending unit.

The ground wire will be along the frame, just follow the sending unit wire harness from the top of the gas tank and you'll find it. But start with replacing the fuel filter that is located on the inside frame rail under the drivers door.

Keep us posted and stay safe.

well today i went to get my car and the first thing i did was hit my fuel filter with a hammer a couple times then tried to start the car. it fired right up and stayed running. so i hopped in and drove it back home and left it run in my driveway for about 10 minutes. the car never stalled on me or even sputtered while i was driving. i am going to replace the fuel filter anyways because its so cheap. i hope all that was wrong was i got bad gas and it clogged my filter, but can a filter get clogged then unclog itself after sitting? hopefully i don't have a bad fuel pump. i changed 2 pumps in 2 different cars and both times the pump just quit working not work for a little bit then quit and then work again so i don't know if that would be the problem. thanks for the help and ill keep you posted.
