got my beautiful 08 sierra 4.8 stuck in the snow today. At one point I revved up the engine then white steam started filling the air. opened the hood and smelt the antifreeze and saw where there must have been a leak on the line some where as it was sprayed all over the front of the motor.

The truck always started ok as I got pulled out but could not drive far. then the cooling fan took over so I was able to get 9qts of water into the AF reservoir while having the motor on of course, but I felt like I wanted to just shut the truck off for 30 min. but it was running and I put the water in the AF res.

Temp stayed at 210 but was not able to drive but a mile. cooling fan was on and the trucks overheating prevention kicked into place and slowed my truck down. I stopped, got a tow from another fisherman who stopped to help me. 40 miles, at intervals, I had the engine on and truck in neutral as he towed me. at times I turned the truck off to save wear on the battery and engine. by the time I got home, the ABS light came on. Engine check light never came back on. At any time I had zero, smoke. we unhooked the tow rope when we got to the apts. and when I pulled up in my pkg spot I heard a bit of knocking.

I just hope its only a hole in a lower hose. At one point I looked under the truck and it was leaking somewhere. I live on a fixed income and sure hope it's nothing more serious. Need to find an honest mechanic. Anywone like to take a stab at it what might be the problem?
