I have a 2003 Sierra with a clunking steering shaft (intermediate steering shaft). I see that a column locking tool is required for the job ( J 42640).
I had a look at a photo of that tool on amazon and it appears to be a metal pin. Does anyone have the diameter of that tool? Is there any reason I couldn't just use some sort of pin or dowel of a similar size to prevent the wheel from turning?
Any comments/suggestions are appreciated
