History- 1994 gmc k2500 7.4l 4wd. It is having a low power issue. It is intermittent, when cold it almost feels like it is going to die. After that it just seems like it is really slow. It is getting fuel, it feels like it is being flooded, or starved for air? Maybe it's not getting enough fuel. Cat seems fine, no strange smells from tailpipe. It does have a rather strong fuel smell though, could it be a tps or map problem? I am at a loss and the wife needs it to ferry the children around, any help would be greatly appreciated.
On a side note, should the tranny fluid be obvious on the dipstic or is it just a trace on the dipstick?
Thanks in advance.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, the TBI is fuel pressure sensitive and a dirty fuel filter can give you the issues your describing.

The other things that should be addressed would be the MAP sensor being replaced, the EGR being cleaned out and inspect all your Vacuum lines and replace any damaged lines.

As for your dipstick, there are markings in the dipstick on to where the level should be when the transmission is hot or cold and needs to be checked with the engine running and on level ground. Note if you are going to have the transmission serviced, have them replace the boost valve and sleeve and the cost should be no more then $175.00 in total and less depending on your location with taxes.

Good luck and keep us posted and also try using http://www.seafoamsales.com/ to treat your engine to clean out any carbon build up. :D
