OK. I have a 1996 Chevy Suburban K2500 7.4 ltr (I know!) Its not a GMC but I am at my wits end and need advise! 128,000 miles

Due to the MPG and the cost of gas to fill, I have left it sitting for two weeks. I went to start it and it was dead. It has a red top optima batery (two years old) side mounted posts. I pulled the battery and it took a charge on my bench charger. I put it in and it started. Went back two days later and it was dead. I figured it was the battery and replaced it with a new optima. Same issue. My girlfriend saw sparks come from bottom of truck when I tried to start it. I have cleaned both pos cables (one going to starter and other to starter relay box. Same issue. Car just clicks when I turn ignition. Cables are tight. Today I took alternator off and took it to auto zone and they tested it and it passed charging test. What else should I try? Starter looks like it sucks to change.

Hello!

How do you do?
Very interesting name by the forum gmcowners.com
In my opinion here someone has gone in cycles
Not to know is bad, not to wish to know is worse.
All the best!

I your truck's charging circuit is dead. Get it replaced or checked first. I am sure it will be find after that.

Do you have any power to the truck at all? My 94 had a bad ground wire going to the horn and I didn't notice it until I tried to start it one day and I saw smoke coming from the grille. Start by tracing your ground wires and let me know what you find. Also take that optima battery and have it charged up completely.

If your battery is charged and you haven't changed your starter, do that. If it still doesn't work, it's probably a bad ECM.
