switching engines

Here's one for the real gearheads on this board....

This is just an idea I have.

I bought a used 2006 GMC Envoy XL with the I-6 engine. I understand that the Denali model had a 5.3 8 cyl engine available. It seems to me that my car seems to be "underpowered" for it's size. My question is... could the I-6cyl engine be swapped for the 5.3 8 cyl engine? I understand that there would be other costs related to this other than just the engine and labor. Is it feasible to do this? would the 8cyl engine "mate" with the tranny that is already in there? Is it an involved process? I would have a professional mechanic do the work, I have not the time,the skill,the space or the tools to do it myself.

To costly to swap out the engine, ECM and re-calibrate the transmission. Your better off to trade the Envoy in for a Trailblazer SS if V8 power is what your looking for. The best bang for your buck is http://www.pcmforless.com/, give them a call and they can re-tune your PCM for better performance and economy.

Stay away from hand held tuners, they work. But they too have parameters that will not bring out the full potential of your engine and transmission. http://www.hptuners.com/ works great, but to expensive unless your a tuner junky like me lol

If I was wanting to switch any engine, and money was no object, I'd opt for a diesel engine in a heartbeat.

but that's me.... LOL
