T-case help!

Alright, so my truck is making noises while driving, it seems to happen mostly when the truck shifts into overdrive, and the noise is extremely loud and bad when in 4wd, sometimes the truck wont shift out of 4wd, and ill have to wait, try agian 5 minutes later, then it will shift. I also get the service 4wd light ocasionally. I have a 1999 GMC sierra 1500 4.8 v8, electronic shift t-case. A friend of mine has told me that its common for the t-cases to "shit out" on these trucks. Has anyone else had this problem? Im also wondering if it is possible to switch to a maunal t-case?

Well most likly somthing bad happend in there. I would have it checked on a lift to make sure.
Yes you can put in a manual one - with enough money you can have anything you want put there.

Well its obvious something went wrong, and let me re-phrase my question...would it be an easy swap to switch to a manual t-case? or would the computer throw a fit?
