I have a 2002 GMC Sierra regular cab. The tailgate wouldn't open so I pried off the cover and noticed red and green clips. One of them was broken. Can I replace this and how do I do it?

I am having the same problem, with an added twist.

The rod that goes over to the right side latch on the tailgate has fallen down inside. So, I don't know how to unlatch the tailgate, so I can remove it and flip it upside down to retrieve the rod.

I have an '06, if that helps?
