we are in the market for a used/newish car and we're really debating between the Yukon and the Acadia.

The Acadia seems very similar to my last car, a Subaru Tribeca .... but we got the 2006, the first year they came out with the Tribeca and it's had nothing but problems. I'm a little worried that since the Acadia is a relatively new-ish style we might run into the same problems.

:confused::confused::confused:

You might try doing some searches on here, there appears to be a fair amount of trouble with the Acadia's depending on year, a lot of them are transmission related. I'm sure there are issues with both of them though.

Hi naomi02,

We are happy to hear that you're considering the GMC Acadia and Yukon for your next vehicle purchase. I understand that you're having some pre-sales concerns and hopefully the forum will help with your research. Remember, you can always go on a test drive at your local GMC dealer. Also feel free to check www.gmcertified.com for certified pre-owned vehicles in your area. If you have any questions that we can try and help answer, feel free to let us know.

I would recommend never owning an Acadia or any of its sisters unless under warranty. Significant timing chain related engine problems, plus many other problems. I bought my daughter a low mileage 2011 in 2012, and it's turned into a nightmare. Friend at church has a 2010 and he says his he's had too many problems with his, also.

I agree with the other posters, do a few searches on here and you will see many people have problems with the Acadia. I really like the looks when they came out, but I'm glad that I didn't get one after hearing the problems people are having. Of course all vehicles have some kind of problems but the Acadia seems to have more than it's share.

DO NOT PURCHASE ONE!!! I have a 2011 with 45,000 miles and just changes the alternator($400) and water pump($200) in the last two months. My power train warranty expired in October. Called GMC Customer Service and they told me they would have a local Customer Care Representative call me the next day. Never heard from them. Embarrassing.
