I jacked up one rear wheel of my GMC Sierrra , and ran the engine up to about 25 mph on the speedometer. Soon billows of smoke were coming from the rear of the truck, and I thought the jacked up tire was rubbing on something.
It wasn't. The smoke was coming from the other rear tire , resting on the dirt, and fortunately I had a large wood block under one front wheel. Thusly, I learned that my truck apparently has a positraction rear axle , a fact I never noticed over the last 5 years. ( Name withheld to protect the incompetent.)
