Hey, I have a 2005 GMC Jimmy and I have a few questions about towing and I am getting no answers from the dealer:

1. How much can I tow if I just put a ball on the rear bumper? Should I do this or is it better to get a Hitch installed?

2. Where can I find a hitch for this vehicle? I have called about 5 different places and I keep getting that GMC did not make a Jimmy in 2005 and that they have no hitches for them.

I want to tow an enclosed trailer with 2 motorcycles in it, plus some tools and extra wheels. I also am looking at towing a small camper (20 feet).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

U can go to U haul and they will have your trailer hitch your looking for installed, or you can install it your self.
Valley Hitch http://www.vtowing.com/
Part# 81690
Class III And IV; Receiver Trailer Hitch; Round Tube; Max. Gross Trailer Weight 4000 lbs./Weight Distributing 6000 lbs.; No Drilling Required; 1 pc.; Rear. Is the part your looking for that is made your your Jimmy.

Your going to have to do a Search for the 2005 Blazer, the 2005 Jimmy is an odd ball year since it was not offered in all 50 States, so good chance that most places will not have part items in there system. But will for the Blazer which is the same truck. ;)

The other thing also is that you may want to have your transmission worked on but replacing the boost valve to a 0.0490" rather then the stock boost valve 0.0740" which was more pron to giving transmission issues when towing. The other thing also that would help is to add a transmission cooler to help the transmission last much longer with the extra weight being towed now.
